What Do You Want Your Life to Look Like? Giving Yourself Permission to Imagine What Comes Next

November naturally invites reflection.
The year is beginning to wind down. We start thinking about what happened, what changed, what we accomplished & what we didn't.
Before we rush into another year of goals & resolutions, I want to ask a different question:
What do you actually want?
Not what should you want.
Not what would make someone else happy.
Not what looks good on paper.
What do you want?
That question can be surprisingly difficult for women who have spent years making decisions based on the needs of everyone around them.
Sometimes we become so good at responding to life that we forget to imagine it.
And imagining matters.
Vision is not about predicting the future.
It's about becoming clear about the direction you want to move.
When we know where we want to go, we can begin making choices that support that direction.
Without a vision, we can stay busy without actually moving forward.
This is why vision comes before goals in Power Within Her.

A goal is a destination or action.
A vision is the bigger picture.
It asks:
What do I want my life to feel like?
Who do I want to be?
What matters to me?
What do I want more of?
What do I want less of?
What kind of relationships do I want?
What do I want to experience?
What do I want to contribute?
And perhaps the most important question:
What would I choose if I trusted myself?
You don't have to know exactly how you're going to get there.
In fact, I don't want you to let the “how” stop you from imagining the “what.”
We often shut down our own dreams before they've had a chance to become real because we immediately start listing all the reasons they won't work.
That's where I may gently push you.

Give yourself permission to imagine before you explain.
Let yourself want something.
Let yourself consider a possibility.
Let yourself see a version of your life that may look different from the one you have today.
That doesn't mean you have to walk away from everything.
It doesn't mean you have to make a dramatic change.
Sometimes a new vision simply changes the way you show up in the life you're already living.
And sometimes it reveals that something needs to change.
Either way, awareness gives you choice.
As we move toward the end of the year, don't measure your life only by what you accomplished.
Consider what you discovered.
Perhaps you learned that you are stronger than you thought.
Perhaps you discovered a boundary.
Perhaps you realized you deserve more.
Perhaps you finally admitted what you've wanted for a long time.
Those discoveries matter.
They become the foundation for what comes next.
So give yourself a little space this November.
Close your eyes.
Imagine your life if you were living in alignment with the woman you are becoming.
Don't worry about how yet.
Just see it.

Because sometimes the first step toward a different life is allowing yourself to
believe that one is possible.
From My Heart To Yours,
Patti
